Honolulu billionaire Barbara Cox Anthony dies

Honolulu resident and billionaire Barbara Cox Anthony died today after an extended illness, according to Cox Enterprises Inc., the company founded by her father, three-time Ohio governor James M. Cox. She was 84.Anthony was a principal owner of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises and routinely made Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s richest people. In March, the magazine listed her as No. 45 with a net worth of $12.6 billion.

While maintaining a low public profile in Hawaii, Anthony was renowned for her philanthropy here.
