Brazil asks to extradite Russian billionaire

A Brazilian court has requested the arrest and extradition of Boris Berezovsky, the Russian billionaire exiled in the UK, along with two British citizens involved in football management in Brazil.

Mr Berezovsky, with Kia Joorabchian and Nojan Bedroud, and five Brazilian citizens, are charged with formation of a criminal organisation and money laundering in connection with payments of $32.5m (£16m) made to the Corinthians football club of São Paulo since it entered a management deal with Media Sports Investments in November 2004.

Brazilian court documents say telephone conversations recorded over a year-and-a-half show that “MSI belongs and has always belonged to the accused, Boris Berezovsky”.
