Billionaire pledges $2.34bn to charity

SIR Tom Hunter, the richest man in Scotland, has pledged to give one billion pounds ($2.34 billion) to charity.

His spokesman said that he would give the money away through the course of the rest of his life to charities both in Britain and developing countries through his charitable foundation.

“My own personal belief is that with great wealth comes great responsibility,” Sir Hunter told the BBC today.

“Therefore you’ve got to take care of these things if wealth creation is still going to be seen as a positive force by the rest of the population.”
