Mike Ashley: the shy billionaire

Telegraph has this story on Mike Ashley today:

Six weeks ago Mike Ashley, deputy executive chairman, founder and 57pc shareholder in Sports Direct promised to improve the company’s external relations. He needs to. 

The first four-and-a-half-months as a publicly quoted company have proved difficult for both Mike and the City. His non-executive chairman has resigned and today he issued a profits warning. Shares in the group have now fallen more than 50pc since the float.

Yet his name was conspicuously absent from today’s results announcement and although Mike agreed to meet me last week - with less than 24 hours notice he cancelled.
