Billionaire Simons denies selling stake in his company

Renaissance Technologies Corp, the huge hedge fund group led by mathematician James Simons, on Tuesday denied a news report that it plans to sell a minority stake.”We are not in discussions and there are no plans,” a spokesman for the firm said. “There is no truth to the story.”

The Financial Times on Tuesday carried a front page report that Renaissance “is considering selling a minority stake to a big outside investor group or groups of investors in coming weeks.”
