Russian Billionaire Kerimov Joins Upper House

Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov will become a member of the Federation Council, the upper chamber of parliament, the newspaper Kommersant said, without citing anyone.

Kerimov will represent the parliament of his southern region of Dagestan in the Federation Council, the daily said. He’ll give up the seat in the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, that he held in its last session, the newspaper added.

In April Kerimov left the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, which he represented in the Duma, to join President Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party, according to the newspaper.
