Lampert Increases Stake in AutoNation

Billionaire investor Edward Lampert has increased his stake in AutoNation Inc. to 31.9 percent, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday.

Lampert’s hedge fund, ESL Investments Inc., and related parties now hold about 58.8 million shares of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based auto retailer.

On Nov. 27, ESL Investments reported holding about 55.3 million shares, or a 30 percent stake
