A Humbler Birthday For Schwarzman

One year ago, Stephen Schwarzman threw one of the year’s most lavish parties to celebrate his 60th birthday. The billionaire entertained guests at the storied Park Avenue Armory with comedian Martin Short, rocker Rod Stewart and singer Patti LaBelle. In case attendees forgot whose party it was, Schwarzman hung a full-length portrait of himself near the Armory’s entrance.

A year later, Schwarzman is celebrating much more humbly. He took lunch as he regularly does. He dined in one of the booths at the Four Seasons Restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Four Seasons co-owner Julian Niccolini presented him with a bouquet of red roses. Showing some Valentine’s Day spirit, Schwarzman drank pink champagne.
