Billionaire Feeney summons Brisbane brains for powwow

A GROUP of Queensland’s sharpest minds has been summoned to the US next month for an audience with billionaire Irish American philanthropist Chuck Feeney, the man who has bankrolled much of the state’s scientific and medical research facilities in recent years.

The high-powered delegation includes University of Queensland vice-chancellor Paul Greenfield and the directors of most of the state’s now-renowned medical and bioscience research institutes.Professor Greenfield said yesterday the trip was aimed at fostering links between the research and educational institutions around the world that had benefited from Mr Feeney’s philanthropy.

    Correct. The biography says that he left himself with a couple of million dollars after giving the rest away.
